Satellite
Alluding to the planets of the solar system, the mechanical movement consists of a large wheel carrying three smaller wheels, each with four branches (four hours per disc 1/4/7/10, 2/5/8/11 and 3/6/9/12).
The large wheel completes one rotation in three hours so that the individual small wheels can reveal one number through the window on the dial for sixty minutes. While the large wheel turns, the small wheels rotate by one step using two fingers cut directly into the main plate.
This enables each of the twelve numbers to appear once during a twelve-hour period. The entire timekeeping process represents its own interpretation of the solar system, as the three small wheels gravitate and rotate in relation to the larger wheel that symbolizes the sun.
The four branches are the satellites, objects put into orbit by humans in their constant endeavours to measure and control time.
