The heart of this sophisticated machine is Calibre BVL 312, built on a Valjoux 7750 base and customised for Bvlgari by La Joux-Perret Manufacture with an additional GMT module. This high-end self-winding movement featuring integrated construction is fitted with an oscillating weight mounted on ball bearings and also boasting a column wheel.
BVL Calibre 312 beats at a cadence of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a 48-hour power reserve. Certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), this movement drives indications of the hours and minutes, as well as a central chronograph seconds hands.
The measured times are read off on a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, while the running small seconds counter appears at 9 o’clock. This pointer-type display is complemented by a date window at 4.30.
In addition to the standard display of local time by hour/minute hands, the two additional hour hands are identified in two very different ways to ensure optimal read-off. The outer rim of the dial has a 24-hour graduation divided into two distinct 12-hour segments and clearly shows the day/night zones on a track swept over by the GMT pointer.
It is adjusted via the crown, which is also used for the usual time-setting and date corrections. Meanwhile, the third time zone is controlled by a notched bezel specially developed for the Diagono X-Pro: a bidirectional and extremely user-friendly element bearing a 24-hour graduation, with the day/night zones marked off by alternating surface colours on two 12-hour segments featuring steel for day-time and rubber for night-time.
This bezel is fitted a sophisticated and highly innovative device exclusive to Bulgari, which means it can be locked according to the chosen time zone. A simple press then frees it in order to enable the user to perform the desired adjustment. As soon as the pressure is lifted, the bezel remains perfectly motionless.
Boasting an ultra-sophisticated construction, its 45 mm-diameter case is composed of 104 parts. It combines steel, grade 5 titanium, rubber and a DLC-treated (Diamond Like Carbon) steel middle.
