The challenges Maurice Lacroix sets itself are considerable: to push back the limits of timekeeping and change its perspectives. It is with its flagship line, Masterpiece, that the brand has propelled watchmaking towards a new dimension and, by creating a square wheel, taken a new angle on time! A world first, this amalgamation of technology, innovation and aestheticism is inspired by traditional regulator watches and displays the hours by means of a geometrically openworked square wheel at twelve o’clock. Driven by another wheel, shaped like a cloverleaf, it turns regularly, indicating the hour by means of a raised corner on its centre square. By combining the techniques of photolithography and electroforming, the timepiece attains a degree of unrivalled precision. The movement plate takes on the role of the dial, and its matt and satin finishing emphasises its size, giving it an appearance that is as amazing as it is hypnotising. Limited to 99 watches.
