For the Ahoi Model
The NOMOS Ahoi has already won several consumer prizes in Europe, but the GOOD DESIGN Award marks a special recognition of the international design community.
The Award's legacy dates back to 1950, when the prize was created by Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen, and Edgar Kaufmann, Jr. in Chicago. Today it is awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum, the Museum of Architecture and Design, and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
For NOMOS Glashütte, an independent watchmaking company, it is the third GOOD DESIGN Award in a row--which underlines the company's strength in design. The NOMOS classic Tangente won the award in 2012, while in 2011 the Zürich model received the distinction.
We are aiming to create the most beautiful classic watches and cases, which complement the fine mechanical movements from our Glashütte workshops, says Judith Borowski, who is responsible for NOMOS Glashütte's brand and design. She is celebrating along with the Ahoi designer Thomas Höhnel, whose initial reaction was: This is like all my Christmases coming at once.
