Blancpain is renewing its support for the Only Watch charity auction by presenting a unique version of its Villeret Traditional Chinese Calendar. Standing firmly alongside the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy (AMM) for almost 15 years, Blancpain is proud to be taking part in this 6th edition of Only Watch.
The case, in 18kt red gold, measures 45mm x 15mm. It has double sapphire crystals and it is water resistant to 30 meters. The case has five Blancpain-patented under-lug correctors to adjust indications.
Movement is the Swiss automatic Blancpain in-house caliber 3638 with 36 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 168 hours. The gold rotor has a black champlevé enamel finish and bears the ONLY WATCH inscription.
It has a Gregorian and Chinese calendars with traditional double-hour indication, day, month with indication of leap months, signs of the zodiac, as well as the five elements and the 10 celestial stems. The combination of the latter with the 12 animals of the zodiac that represent the terrestrial branches follows the sixty-year cycle that is central to Chinese culture. The moon phases, a key element in Blancpain complete calendars, are also presented and play a particularly important role in this model, given the link between the lunar cycle and traditional Chinese months.
The dial is black grand feu enamel featuring a chapter ring with applied gold hour-markers, as well as indications that are painted in gold before firing.
It comes on a 23mm brown alligator leather strap with a red gold buckle.
