GIRARD-PERREGAUX - LAUREATO BOL D'OR MIRABAUD 2009
To celebrate the 71st edition of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud, Girard-Perregaux presents the Laureato Bol d’Or Mirabaud chronograph 2009.
Presenting sponsor of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud for the third year running, Girard-Perregaux has once again released a watch dedicated to the biggest inland regatta in Europe. The Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture presented a Sea Hawk Pro 1000m model designed exclusively for the 2007 edition of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud. This year as with last, the Laureato Bol d’Or Mirabaud chronograph highlights the brand's innovative approach. In creating this timepiece, Girard-Perregaux once again demonstrates the similarities between the values of fine watchmaking and competition sailing. Perfect mastery of one's art, great patience and passion are some of the qualities essential for a skipper and a watchmaking craftsman to accomplish their job.
Like all Girard-Perregaux's creations, the Laureato has been meticulously developed with the Girard-Perregaux Product Creation and Development department. After a design phase in which Luigi Macaluso, President of the watchmaking manufacture, plays an active part, the project is taken over by the company's Process engineering and R&D. After development, the concept is tested in all its aspects, with several prototypes put together and studied. When all the phases have been successfully concluded, production is finally scheduled and organised. The watch is finally manufactured and assembled within the Manufacture before being put on the market.
Particularly suited to nautical activities, the Laureato is bedecked for the occasion with rubber on its bezel, its crown and its pushers. Its case is forged from titanium, a light metal well known to sailors for its corrosion and impact resistance.
This chronograph has been adapted to competition. Its flyback function is very useful for getting accurate different racing time readings. In addition, the chronograph's central hand provides a precise countdown for the crucial ten minutes preceding the start of regattas: this time is clearly highlighted in the zone between 12 and 2 o'clock, with the first five minutes indicated in blue and the following five minutes (corresponding to the pre-start phase) indicated in red.
The thirty pieces made for the event should soon be on the wrists of a few competitors with a passion for exceptional watches, and fine watchmaking lovers keen on great regattas such as the Bol d’Or Mirabaud.
