Singapore Charity Auction 2009
On 6 April 2009, the people of L’Aquila awoke to a “terrible bloody dawn” as an earthquake of 6.3 Richter magnitude occurred in the central Italian region of Abruzzo. 90% of buildings were destroyed, including 99 churches; places of worship and historical sites of the Roman Catholic Church. The devastation of historical monuments and the loss of lives can never be restored. The earthquake left more then 65,000 homeless and injured with a death toll of 307 people, making it the deadliest to hit Italy since 1980…
Audemars Piguet ambassador and Formula One driver, Jarno Trulli who was raised in Pescara, Abruzzo is spearheading efforts to raise funds for the victims through his Abruzzo nel Cuore (Abruzzo in the Heart) appeal. To date, this appeal has raised more than €95,000 through the auction of Formula One keepsakes generously donated by fellow drivers and donations contributed through the Abruzzo nel Cuore website.
