With this in mind, Baume & Mercier is a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, a not-for-profit international organization that promotes healthy practices in terms of ethics, human rights, labor and the environment, throughout all areas of the industry, from mines to retail. The Council has developed a certification system applicable to all its members and which submits them to an independent audit in order to verify their compliance with its standards. Baume & Mercier is currently preparing for this certification process, which should be completed by the end of 2011.
