DBLM by De Bethune
Although De Bethune were not exhibiting at Baselworld, I had the extreme good fortune to meet up with founders David Zanetta (CEO/designer) and Denis Flageollet (master watchmaker extraodinaire) and they had a very special timepiece on hand: the new DBLM.
This is the watch I want for myself from Baselworld 2010.
It may not be one of De Bethune's Dream watches, but it has become my dream watch!
Called the DBLM "Lightweight", the watch is a high-tech evolution of the DBS line featuring:
- full polished titanium case
- patented De Bethune floating lugs
- full silicon balance
- optimal performance indicator
- three dimensional hands
- high-polished titanium case
Where a power reserve indicates how long a watch will run, the "Optimal Performance Indicator" on the DBLM informs the wearer if the state of wind is in the band of maximum accuracy. While the power reserve of the movement is 5 days, 4-days of that power is optimal for accuracy
The watch is incredibly comfortable to wear thanks to De Bethune's patented articulated lugs and the light weight - only 45 grams all up.
In fact, I would go so far as to say that the DBLM is THE most comfortable watch I have ever strapped to my wrist.
That large central triangular bridge is mirror polished steel bridge and the tiny dots/balls for the hour markers are highly polished titanium.
The DBLM will be available exclusively from The Hour Glass (Singapore) and Chronopassion (France) in 2010, and then worldwide from 2011.
I am saving my pennies. Though at around 80,000 Swiss francs (plus taxes) it may take some time.
