Rotonde de Cartier skeleton flying tourbillon, 9455 MC calibre with Geneva Seal
A superb technical achievement, this version of the Rotonde de Cartier tourbillon watch introduces a spectacular mechanical movement with manual winding: the 9455 MC calibre skeleton flying tourbillon.
Irrefutable avant-garde style combined with watchmaking tradition
An ultra-contemporary Cartier movement, in which function is part of the form. An aesthetic revolution expressed by a movement that also acts as a dial. A work of art highlighted by a skeletonised main plate and bridges that form striking Roman numerals. And a graphically stunning design, featuring an XII, III and IX that frame the carriage of the flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock.
The interplay between solids and spaces reveals a movement driven by a skeletonised barrel with a visible spring. It is a living piece of art, enhanced by a range of precious hand-produced finishes: angled bridges, satin-brushed sides and circular-grained wheels.
The Cartier 9455 MC calibre is stamped with the Geneva Seal and delivered with an individually numbered certificate of origin, which confirms that the movement meets the criteria of excellence set out by the Office for the Voluntary Inspection of Watches from Geneva.

Polishing of steel parts
All steel parts must have polished angles, drawn sides and smoothed visible surfaces. This reduces friction and protects the movement from wear over time. Screw heads, as well as pinion shanks and their surfaces, must also be polished.
Finishing of jewels
To ensure the long life of components, all 19 jewels are set in polished holes, both in the gear train and the escapement. On the bridge side, the jewels have a semi-mirror finish and the sinks are polished.
Centring the balance spring
The balance spring is pinned to a grooved plate using a rounded-collar stud – a particularly delicate watchmaking operation that enables more precise centring for better movement regulation.
Lighter escapement wheel
The reduced weight of the escapement wheel lowers the effect of its inertia on the regulation of the movement.
An in-house design for renewed elegance
A 45 mm white-gold case and an airy transparency characterise a watch whose powerful design is combined with highly delicate finishes to produce a subtle and harmonious play on proportions.
The Rotonde de Cartier skeleton flying tourbillon watch invents an exquisite elegance that captures the very essence of fine watchmaking.
